What is a passkey

A passkey is a pair of keys. The website keeps the public half; the private half stays encrypted in your vault and never leaves it. Signing in proves you hold the private half, so there is no password to type, reuse, phish or leak.

Why this matters

Passkeys let you sign in to websites and apps without a password. DroidPass keeps them encrypted with a Secret Key that never leaves your devices.

Create a passkey on the website or app itself, then choose DroidPass when your phone asks where to save it. It appears in this list straight away.

Good to know

  • Passkeys let you sign in to websites and apps without a password. DroidPass keeps them encrypted with a Secret Key that never leaves your devices.
  • The key itself stays encrypted on your device and is never shown. Sign in with it from the AutoFill suggestion.
  • One passkey on the free plan. Upgrade for unlimited.
  • Not every site offers them yet. Where one does, you will be asked whether to save a passkey when you sign in.
  • To try one without touching a real account, passkeys.io is a public demo by Hanko. It asks for an email address and a made-up one is fine β€” but that passkey is then the only way back into that demo account.
